90 Minutes… or Eternity?

For just ninety minutes, the world seemed to hold its breath.
From crowded stadiums to quiet living rooms, billions of eyes were fixed on one event. Every pass was analyzed. Every save brought applause. Every goal sparked celebration. When the final whistle blew, one nation rejoiced while another walked away heartbroken.
For a few unforgettable moments, nothing else seemed to matter.
And then, almost as quickly as it began…
Life returned to normal.
The stadium lights dimmed.
The crowds went home.
The confetti was swept away.
The headlines changed.
As I watched it all unfold, one question settled deep in my heart.
What if we became just as passionate about victories that last forever?
Don’t misunderstand me. Sport has a remarkable way of bringing people together. It teaches discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and excellence. Those are qualities worth celebrating.
But there is another field where a far greater game is being played.
It isn’t broadcast on television.
There are no instant replays.
No championship trophies.
No roaring crowds.
Yet the outcome carries eternal significance.
Across Canada this summer, thousands of children are gathering in churches, parks, neighbourhoods, camps, community centres, and backyards. They are singing, laughing, asking questions, opening God’s Word, and hearing about Jesus Christ—many for the very first time.
To the world, these may seem like ordinary summer activities.
To Heaven, they are extraordinary moments.
Every child who discovers that God loves them.
Every child who learns why Jesus came.
Every child who places their trust in Christ.
Heaven celebrates.
Jesus said,
“Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Matthew 19:14
And in Luke’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us that “there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” (Luke 15:10)
Think about that.
While the world celebrates a championship that will one day become another page in the history books, Heaven celebrates every child whose life is transformed by the Gospel.
That is why Child Evangelism Fellowship exists.
We are not simply running summer programs.
We are investing in eternity.
Every missionary who serves.
Every volunteer who teaches.
Every church that opens its doors.
Every family that welcomes children.
Every faithful prayer.
Every generous gift.
Together, they become part of a story far greater than any championship.
A story of lives changed.
Families strengthened.
Churches encouraged.
And children discovering the hope found only in Jesus Christ.
