Celebrating Love: Embracing God’s Unconditional Love This Valentine’s Day
January 30, 2026
As Valentine’s Day approaches, our thoughts often turn to expressions of love—cards, chocolates, and heartfelt gestures fill our minds and our stores. But beyond the commercial aspects, Valentine’s Day offers a beautiful reminder to reflect on a deeper love—the unconditional love that God has for each of us, and particularly for the little children He holds so dear.
In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14, NIV). This verse reminds us of the pure, unfailing love that the Lord extends to all His children. It’s a love that is not earned through actions or words, but freely given—a perfect love that never fails.

Reflecting on this divine love, we can see each child as a unique creation, cherished by our Heavenly Father. The innocence and wonder with which children perceive the world is a reflection of how we are invited to embrace God’s love—without reservations, doubts, or fears. Each smile, laugh, and moment of wonder they experience is a testament to the joy found in God’s presence.

As we prepare to celebrate Valentine’s Day, let us extend this understanding of love in our own lives. Let’s teach our children about God’s love, sharing stories from the Bible that highlight His kindness, care, and teachings. Encourage them to see love as more than a word or a feeling, but as an action, a commitment to kindness, compassion, and understanding towards one another.

Our ministry at CEF Canada is certainly reaching children with the gospel locally and around the world, training and sending missionaries. In this world filled with distractions and noise, taking a moment to cherish God’s love is healing and vital. It reminds us of the importance of love in all its forms, both human and divine. Encouraging little ones to express their love for God, themselves, and others in simple acts of kindness can embody the love that Jesus showed us.

This Valentine’s Day, while we exchange gifts of affection, let’s also reflect deeply on the boundless love God pours into our lives. By cultivating a heart full of gratitude, we embrace the gift of His love, a love that transcends all understanding.

As we share God’s love with the children in our lives, we not only honour the Lord but we also fulfill Jesus’ invitation to let the little children come to Him. As he embraces them with the love that is pure, unwavering, and eternal. Can you help us with our vision of reaching Every Child, Every Nation, Every Day locally and around the world?

May your Valentine’s Day be filled with God’s love, and may it overflow into the hearts of all those young and old around you.

Blessings
